Ya’ll know that song by Megan thee Stallion? Cognac Queen? DO YOU KNOW YOUR MEGAN BABY?
Okay so if you do– if you don’t, lemme put you on– that was literally my entire inspiration for this outfit.
I did not buy this dress for anything formal, but I ended up wearing it to my sorority’s ball. I really didn’t want to wear a full length/black tie esq formal evening dress. I wanted something more cocktail looking, and it didn’t hurt that I had already bought this, so I saved some coins by not buying a brand new dress too.
This beautiful cognac brown dress is from Boohoo— it is no longer available, but I linked a similar dress in their plus collection– and let me tell you a secret: this is my first ever bandage dress.
I was a little skeptical about wearing this dress, because it emphasizes everything that you could possibly be insecure about. Arms, Stomach, Thighs, you name it. But I ended up feeling so confident and powerful in this dress.
Like let me go pull somebody daddy. I’m feeling step momma-ish.
My initial plan for this outfit was the dress, these really cute 3-inch clear and nude heels– that you’ll see in the pictures below– and a beige clutch. Yes, very Cognac Queen like.
Ya’ll know i’m a firm believer that hair makes the outfit, but unfortunately on this day my hair did not want to cooperate. I wanted the Kash Doll, flipped up ponytail– I just know that was finna be fire– I don’t know what I did wrong, but the lil bump would not stay bumped, it fell 6 times before I even got out the door to go to my friends house to meet everyone.
Anyway, I think another way this could be styled– and it might be a little out the park, I also may try this later on– is to put a white tee underneath this dress, and put on thick socks and a chunky gym shoe. I feel like that would take it into day time, while also keeping those sexy silhouettes and curves that the dress makes out of your body.
You let me know if thats a no though, I’m not 100% sold on this idea, but it popped into my head.
Do You Boo x.
