Hey GRL,
I’ve been holding on to these pics and this outfit for a while now—really like 3 weeks— and I don’t know, I think I might have did something.
So remember I said in “Cognac Queen” that I thought another way to style that sexy brown dress I copped from boohoo would be to add a tee shirt underneath and a sneaker? Right, so I’ve had this salmon/white crochet looking dress from Charlotte Russe for about 3 years, so very off trend now, and I honestly only wore it once to a brunch my freshman year of college.
But this got me thinking: what could I do to make this regular schmegular dress, that really has no pizazz other than the crochet knit, look like something I’d wear out the house right now? How could I style this off trend dress?
I don’t know why, but white button up kept playing around in my mind. So I took that idea and ran with it. My goal for this look was trying out the preppy look on myself but with a twist since the dress isn’t the traditional preppy, but the style of the outfit definitely gave preppy/modern contemporary vibes.
I’m more of a heels than sneakers girl, so I went ahead and threw on my favorite chunky block heels from Charlotte Russe, but if you aren’t a heels girl and want to style a similar outfit, you could always throw on a cute pair of gym shoes(sneakers) or a pair of shorter heels/flats.
I think this outfit could have also been pulled off with a white sandal. Something that embodied that classy look but also brought it down to a more casual look.
My styling of this outfit was more of a day party/brunch/women’s empowerment conference look than a more simple casual look. To take it down a notch you could of course do a crew neck tee, or keep the button up and tone it down on the accessories and the shoes to make it more everyday.
Maybe I’ll try that out and show y’all what it looks like.
Enjoy the photos, and leave me a comment if you think of another way to take this dress into everyday life!
